Update, Update...Read All About It.

We recently sent a care package to our little one through Ann at Red Thread China. Ann was able to get us updated measurements and pictures from the orphanage. I am so happy we used her services. In addition to sending the care package, Ann also translated a letter we sent introducing our family to the orphanage staff. Through Ann, we learned that Lian Yu is no longer residing in the orphanage. She was placed with a foster family several weeks ago. We also learned that she now has 8 teeth and currently weighs 10kg (22 lbs.) She is described as healthy, active, smart and a smiley little girl. I'm in love!

Endless Beauty

Chinese is a poetic and symbolic language. The thousands of Chinese characters that are used in the Mandarin language are pictograms with deep meaning that go beyond western concepts of alphabets. Many Chinese characters have multiple meanings and the actual meaning depends on the context in which it is used and often the adjacent characters.

We just learned the meaning of our daughter's name, Lian Yu. Lian means to link, join or connect. It can also mean something repeated or including. Yu means pure or beautiful. Combined the words convey a meaning of endless beauty. A fitting name for a beautiful little girl!
