After a very long plane ride, we have finally arrived in Beijing. It is an amazing city with over 20 million people. Thank goodness for our guide who got us safely to our hotel. She is 27 years old, but looks about 18. Speaks very good English and is as cute as can be. She'll take us touring tomorrow morning. We haven't seen much of Beijing except for what we could see from the freeway. Lots and lots of apartment buildings. She told us that a small two bedroom apartment costs over $400,000.00 (USD) near the downtown district. Most Chinese rent, as they obviously can't afford to buy. Often up to 5 people will live together in a two bedroom apartment in order to afford the rent. We look forward to exploring the city tomorrow and learning more about the Chinese culture.
